About Leuprolide
Continuous GnRH receptor stimulation causes receptor desensitization and downregulation. This suppresses LH/FSH → testosterone/estrogen to castrate levels. Short-term pulsatile use can transiently stimulate the axis before suppression occurs.
A synthetic GnRH agonist that paradoxically suppresses gonadotropin release with continuous administration via receptor downregulation. FDA-approved for prostate cancer, endometriosis, and uterine fibroids. Used off-label in men's health for HPG axis restart protocols.
